Oh dear! Broken Phone

My HTC desire had a USB connector problem a few days ago. I sat on the cable and bent it a bit a while back and so when I sat on it again it finally gave up.

The connector terminals had crumbled away. I dismantled the phone and soldered a new connector that I got from ebay. It wasn't an exact fit and it was a pain to remove the old connector as it was soldered through the board. A couple of pads came off. The new connector:
